ILLIT returned to the music scene in October with their comeback album I’ll Like You, featuring the title track “Cherish (My Love).” As part of their promotional activities, the group appeared on various programs, including their recent feature on KBS’s Idol 2D1N, where they enjoyed a brief getaway.

In the episode aired on November 3, fans watched as the members relaxed and played games before sharing their final thoughts at dinner. During this heartfelt moment, Iroha became visibly emotional as her fellow member Yunah was speaking, prompting Yunah to comfort her.

Iroha shared that she felt touched by the kindness of the staff, adding that she genuinely enjoyed the experience. Her tearful reaction resonated with fans, who connected her emotions to the ongoing backlash that ILLIT has faced due to recent controversies surrounding their agency, HYBE. Since HYBE’s dispute with former ADOR CEO Min Hee Jin and accusations of NewJeans’ concept plagiarism, ILLIT has endured increased scrutiny and hate.

ILLIT’s latest track, Cherish, aimed to capitalize on the early week release strategy to climb the Korean music charts, similar to their debut hit Magnetic. By dropping the song right before the chorus, the group intended to create a viral moment on TikTok and replicate the success they experienced with their first single.

However, despite these strategic efforts, Cherish has not gained the expected traction. The song has plummeted down the Melon charts, currently sitting at a disappointing 85th place in the top 100. Additionally, it seems to have failed to make an impact on TikTok, with no noticeable trends or viral challenges emerging around it.

Many netizens believe that the public has ignored ILLIT following recent controversies.
